When our learners grow, it gives us so much to smile about!
“In the opening session of University of Toronto’s S.M.I.L.E. (Sensory Motor Instructional Leadership Experience) program, I had the opportunity to spend my Saturday mornings with the most kind-hearted girl, Lee. Lee was a bit shy and hesitant to try new movements when I first met her but we bonded over our shared love of dogs instantly.
In the weeks that I spent with Lee, I learned she loves to run, sing, make obstacle courses to go through and try gymnastics. Forward rolls became a primary Kinesiology based movement goal for us. She went from unwilling to try, to being able to successfully demonstrate and help her peers learn how to complete a forward roll! It was incredible to watch her grow, learn and see the confidence she gained. I can’t wait to hear what she does next!” – Abby (U of T MPK Student, S.M.I.L.E Instructor)
